Spontaneous drawing often comes from a similar desire to explore media in a different way. Traditional materials of charcoal, graphite, pastels, and gouache combine in a personal predeliction toward process, using added materials like metallic powders and spray paint to spur a more immediate solution than other work I do. Where my often complex mixed media pieces require more time and technical answers to find solutions, drawings whether abstract or figurative can deliver content that has meaning through image, symbol, or active expression.
